2018 Window Preservation Alliance Annual Meeting March 9-11

Hosted by Double Hung, LLC at their headquarters at 2801 Patterson Street, Greensboro, NC.

Agenda:

Friday, March 9

Arrivals throughout the day, WPA Board meeting 4PM. Shop tours of Double Hung LLC, meet and greet, libations to follow.

Saturday, March 10

8-8:30 AM - Breakfast and Introductions

8:30AM to 9:30 Andrew King and  Elizabeth O'Byrne  will lead a discussion on hiring, firing, and managing a work force.

10:30 to 11:30 David Hoggard and Nancy Barrington will lead a discussion about estimating and record keeping

11:30AM - Bring and Brag

Got a project you are particularly proud of? Bring photos and brag about how you saved some windows. Share tips, techniques, challenges, opportunity for all to discuss.

We have a great presentation about a steel window restoration project from Brooks Gentleman of Re-View Windows in Kansas City, Missouri.

Noon - 1 - LUNCH and chat

1PM to 2 PM Roseanne Morgan of the NC Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) will explain how Consultative Services work, current lead standards, containment and protection, and discuss strategies for designing a safe workspace.

2:15PM to 3:15PM Neil Mozer and Marc Bagala will lead SHOP TALK - a discussion on designing, modifying, expanding, and running an efficient workshop whether you a one man operation or have dozens of employees.

4PM Glaze-A-Palooza!

Sign up here to show your skills at old fashioned putty glazing. The heat is on to see who can glaze the fastest, with the best quality finish, and with style. A team of local judges will be on hand to award the coveted top prize of Master Glazier.

6PM - Pig Picking Party hosted by David and Jinni Hoggard in their historic home walking distance from the hotel. Musical entertainment encouraged!

Sunday, March 11 8:30AM to 3:30PM

We will be helping to repair windows at the White Oak Community Center. This is a great chance to work alongside your peers and community members to give the windows in this beloved building a good sprucing up.

• From Marriott to the meeting site (Double Hung LLC shop) is $8-13.

There will also be people with cars who will happily share a ride.
